A fourth edition with 12 franchise teams, and a U19 squad headed to the Caribbean. US Junior League has given American youth cricket plenty to look forward to.
The US Junior League (USJL) has only just wrapped up its third edition near Houston, and it’s already planning the next one. Within days of each other, USJL announced a 12-team 4th edition for 2027 and a U19 team that will play at the Windward Cup in the Caribbean.
Edition four: 12 teams, one league
On November 2, USJL announced its 4th edition for 2027, built around 12 franchise teams under the banner “12 Teams. One League. One Dream.” The first step is aimed at people who want to own and run a team: the franchise signup deadline is November 20, 2026, through USJL’s team registration page.
Season dates, venues, age groups and the player process for 2027 haven’t been announced yet. When they are, we’ll add them to our Events & Tournaments page.
USJL goes international
Days earlier, on October 30, USJL announced that it has partnered with Global Cricket Series to field a U19 team at the Windward Cup 2027 in the Caribbean. USJL’s own headline puts it simply: “USJL Goes International.”
For a U19 player in the United States, that is a powerful idea: a chance to test your game in a cricket-rich region, against opponents from different backgrounds, in conditions you won’t find at home. USJL directs interested players to tournament details and registration through its partner, TCA Sports Tours. Tournament dates, the host island, eligibility and how the squad will be chosen haven’t been published yet, so families should confirm those directly with the organizers before making plans.
Credit where it’s due
None of this happens by accident. Youth cricket in America runs on people who give up their weekends, evenings and holidays so young players have somewhere to compete. Behind every USJL match are organizers who book grounds, build fixtures and keep the league moving forward, along with the coaches, umpires, scorers, volunteers and parents who make each game day possible.
The 2026 edition showed what that effort produces. The third USJL brought players aged 14 to 23 to the Prairie View Cricket Complex near Houston from October 9 to 12 for a franchise T20 competition, and young cricketers from across the country made the most of the stage. You can relive it in our USJL 2026 results and standout players page.
Now the organizers are thinking bigger: more teams, and an international door for U19 players. That kind of ambition is exactly what American youth cricket needs. To everyone at USJL, and to every volunteer who has helped build it: thank you, and well done.
