Texas A&M Cricket: An Aggie Degree and a Place for the Game

Texas A&M Cricket: An Aggie Degree and a Place for the Game

A college shortlist often starts with a degree. For a young cricketer, another question follows: will there be somewhere to keep playing once school cricket ends?

At Texas A&M University in College Station, the Aggie Cricket Club gives families a documented option to investigate. The university lists cricket within Rec Sports, and its 2026 season coverage records a national tournament title. The next step for a prospective student is to look beyond the trophy and understand the academic and club experience available to them.

This standalone guide expands on our Texas college cricket comparison and belongs to our nationwide Colleges with Cricket series.

Does Texas A&M have a cricket club?

Yes. Texas A&M’s official Rec Sports directory lists a cricket club established in 1999. It describes opportunities for students at different experience levels to develop their cricket and compete against other colleges.

The university’s Aggie Cricket Club profile identifies undergraduate, professional and graduate students as membership groups. It also points prospective members toward the university sport-club registration system.

That is a useful starting point, rather than confirmation that registration is currently open or that every member can play in every competition. Ask the club which joining arrangements apply this semester and how general participation differs from competitive squad selection.

Championship results: keep the editions clear

In the NCCA National College Championship 2024 — First Leg final on March 17, 2024, Texas A&M beat UT Dallas by eight wickets. UT Dallas scored 124/8 from 20 overs; A&M reached 125/2 in 15.3 overs. Those details come from the tournament’s final scorecard. The university’s Rec Sports directory separately lists a 2024 national title.

A&M’s Kirthan Prakash took 2/8 from three overs and Adithyaa Karthikeyan 2/18 from four. In the chase, Mihir Cherukupalli finished unbeaten on 55 from 40 balls, while Rahul Srinivas Manjunatha made 49 not out from 37. Karthik Gattepalli had top-scored for UT Dallas with 55 from 32 balls. These individual figures come from the same match scorecard.

Shreyan Satheesh was the NCCA 2024 First Leg’s leading run-scorer, with 349 runs. Mihir Cherukupalli ranked third on the same batting list, and the two opened the batting together in almost every game, giving A&M a run of exciting starts.

In 2026, Texas A&M won the NCCA Nationals Week 1 title, beating the University of Houston by 12 runs in the final, according to the NCCA’s published results.

Texas A&M Rec Sports’ August 20, 2026 season report independently confirms the championship. It credits Shreyan Satheesh with both the tournament’s Best Batsman and Best Bowler awards, while Maurya Shah was named Player of the Match in the final.

The NCCA lists UT Dallas separately as its 2026 Week 2 winner. Keeping the Week 1 label with A&M’s result identifies the specific championship edition the Aggies won.

These are historical results from specifically named editions, not announcements of upcoming tournaments. We have not established a new match calendar for incoming students.

For a family considering the university, the result shows what a particular club team achieved. It does not establish how quickly a newcomer might earn a place, or what level of cricket will be available to an individual student.

Choose the academic direction first

Cricket is a reason to look more closely at a campus. The student still needs a degree they want to pursue.

Texas A&M’s academic-programs page provides a route to its majors search and undergraduate catalog. Families can use those resources to investigate the subjects that interest the student and the courses required to complete them.

Read a prospective degree plan alongside the activities a student hopes to keep. Which semesters contain labs, placements or substantial projects? What kinds of research or career preparation would they like to explore? Those questions make the discussion more specific than whether a university has a successful cricket team.

Our recommendation is to treat academic fit and club fit as separate checks. A good answer to one does not automatically settle the other.

Build a week that leaves room for both

The practical question is how cricket fits around classes and independent study. Request the current training arrangements and anticipated travel commitments before making assumptions about a semester.

Texas A&M’s academic-support overview describes advising, success coaching and tutoring. The Academic Success Center also directs students to study-skills resources and supplemental instruction for selected courses.

These are university-wide resources to explore, not a promise of cricket-specific academic arrangements. Ask an advisor about the intended course load and ask club leaders how players communicate when classes or exams conflict with activities.

What to ask Aggie Cricket Club

Before planning a visit or a first session, get answers from the current club leadership:

  • Joining: What is the current process for an incoming or newly enrolled student?
  • Experience: What opportunities are available for an experienced player, and for someone learning the game?
  • Selection: Are competitive squads selected separately from general membership, and how does that process work?
  • Training: Where and when are sessions held this semester, and what equipment should a student bring?
  • Competition: Which fixtures and trips are confirmed, and which participation rules apply?
  • Studies: How should players handle conflicts with classes, assignments or exams?

These questions are a joining checklist, not confirmation of trials, facilities, fixtures or team availability.

Where to find the official next step

Start with the university’s Aggie Cricket Club profile. The Rec Sports directory also publishes the club contact as aggiecricketclub@gmail.com.

When contacting the club, include your intended entry year, cricket experience and playing interests. Ask for the latest joining instructions and current semester plans. Confirm details before submitting personal information or traveling to a session.

Current practice times, trial dates and a complete 2026–27 fixture list were not verified for this guide. We also have not established an age cutoff for club membership or every competition. Students should check the rules that apply to their own circumstances directly.
