Minor League Cricket 2026 Week 2: Shimpi’s 4 for 21 and the Youth Players Who Stood Out

Minor League Cricket’s 2026 season rolled into its second week on Thursday, September 24. By Saturday night we had gone through 15 scorecards, and youth players were at the center of several of them: a 4-for-21 that left Lone Star Athletics at 21 for 5, a youth captain taking four wickets in a last-over finish, and a 22-ball fifty with seven sixes.

This roundup covers Thursday to Saturday. We’ll add Sunday’s games once they have been played.

Notable performances by youth players

These are the youth players who stood out so far in Week 2.

• Rishabh Shimpi · MetroPlex Tracers · 4-0-21-4 v Lone Star Athletics, Saturday · He removed Unmukt Chand, Nitish Kumar, Chaitanya Bishnoi and Suvir Gudipati, and Lone Star were 21 for 5 after 5.1 overs. They recovered to win by 7 runs.

• Adnit Jhamb · St. Louis Americans (captain) · 4-0-33-4 v Michigan Cricket Stars, Saturday · Michigan won by two wickets in the final over.

• Utkarsh Srivastava · Michigan Cricket Stars · 4-0-21-3, with 13 dot balls, plus 13 off 10 v St. Louis Americans, Saturday · One of his three wickets was Adnit Jhamb, who dismissed him in return.

• Parth Patel · Atlanta Fire · 56 not out off 22, with seven sixes v Atlanta Lightning · Atlanta Fire made 205 for 5 and won by 47 runs.

• Sanjay Krishnamurthi · East Bay Blazers (captain) · 56 off 35, with five fours and four sixes v Silicon Valley Strikers, Friday · The Strikers won by one wicket with five balls left, one of the closest finishes of the week.

• Adit Kappa · Manhattan Yorkers · 2.5-0-10-1, with 13 dot balls, plus a catch v New Jersey Stallions, Saturday · Manhattan won by six wickets (D/L).

• Atharva Kaushal · The Philadelphians · 2-0-17-2 v NYC Titans, Saturday · The Philadelphians won by ten wickets in a 10-over game.

• Rayaan Taj · New England Eagles · 2-0-10-1, with 7 dot balls v New Jersey Somerset Cavaliers, Saturday · New Jersey Somerset won by six runs in a 7-over game.

• Supransh Kumar · San Ramon Grizzlies · 3-0-24-2 v East Bay Blazers, Saturday · San Ramon won by six wickets.

• Arjun Mahesh · Chicago Kingsmen · 20 not out off 13, with three fours v Chicago Tigers, Saturday · The Kingsmen chased 110 inside ten overs.

• Saiteja Mukkamalla · New Jersey Stallions · 24 off 20, with two sixes v Manhattan Yorkers, Saturday · Second-highest score in a Stallions total of 98. Manhattan won by six wickets (D/L).

• Abhinav Sikharam · Michigan Cricket Stars · 54 off 39, with eight fours v St. Louis Americans, Saturday · Top score of the match as Michigan won by two wickets in the final over.

• Matthew Tromp · MetroPlex Tracers · 4-0-16-2, with 14 dot balls v Lone Star Athletics, Saturday.

• Geeth Bolisetty · All Stars · 35 off 23 and 1.5-0-15-2 v Dallas Xforia Giants, Friday, plus 22 off 17 against the Giants on Thursday.

• Aarin Nadkarni · Lone Star Athletics · 18 not out off 15, with two sixes, plus 4-0-29-1 and a catch v MetroPlex Tracers, Saturday · His wicket was top scorer Sushant Modani, and Lone Star won by 7 runs.

The wider weekend

The biggest innings so far came from Zahid Zakhil, who made 72 not out off 61 balls as San Ramon Grizzlies chased down 151 against the East Bay Blazers. Andries Gous hit seven sixes in 70 not out off 30 as the Dallas Xforia Giants beat All Stars by eight wickets with 57 balls to spare on Thursday. The Giants beat All Stars again on Friday.

Mittansh Nithiyanandam followed last week’s 114 by batting through the Chicago Tigers innings for 51 not out, though the Kingsmen won easily. Ali Sheikh had a hand in everything for the Kingsmen: 2 for 28, a run-out and 22 not out off 9 balls to finish the chase.

The four-wicket hauls kept coming. Ahmad Butt took 4 for 16 for the Chicago Kingsmen, Abhishek Paradkar 4 for 21 for the East Bay Blazers, Kamran Hotak 4 for 22 for Silicon Valley Strikers and Gaurav Patanker 4 for 25 for San Diego Surf Riders. Harish Kakani took three of the last four East Bay wickets for 3 runs.

The tightest spells were Abdul Jabbar Mohammed‘s 2-0-3-2 for the Philadelphians and Elmore Hutchinson‘s 4-1-9-2 for Los Angeles Lashings. Shashwat Kohli scored 88 runs and took four wickets across three games for the Seattle Thunderbolts.

Worth knowing if your child plays

A short game still counts. Rain cut two of Saturday’s East games to 7 and 10 overs a side. In a game that short, two tight overs can decide the result, as Vraj Desai (3 for 15) and Abdul Jabbar Mohammed (2 for 3) showed.

Watch the scorecards, not just the results. Rishabh Shimpi’s 4 for 21 and Adnit Jhamb’s 4 for 33 both came in defeats.
