Minor League Cricket’s 2026 season opened on Thursday, September 17, and by Sunday night 29 matches had been completed across four days. There was a hundred, a 94-run rout, a team bowled out for 53, and, for anyone with a child in the game, the most encouraging thing of all: youth players taking central roles alongside experienced players.
Adnit Jhamb of the St. Louis Americans has taken six wickets, more than any other youth player we track so far this season.

The wider weekend
The headline senior performance came on Saturday, when Unmukt Chand made 100 not out off 67 balls for Lone Star Athletics against All Stars. He and Andre Fletcher (72 off 43) put on 163 for the first wicket, Lone Star reached 219 for 1, and the 94-run margin was the biggest winning margin in runs of the opening week.
At the other end, the NYC Titans were bowled out for 53 by the New England Eagles on Friday, and even that took some chasing: New England got home with four wickets to spare.
On Sunday, Ghulam Mudassar took 4 for 19 for the Chicago Kingsmen. Vatsal Vaghela took 3 for 18 in four overs as San Ramon defended 146 against the East Bay Blazers, and wicketkeeper Arnav Jhamb opened St. Louis’s chase of 181 with 40 off 17 balls, including three sixes.
Worth knowing if your child plays
Youth places were part of the league’s design. When Minor League Cricket explained its model in 2022, it described rosters built to include Under-19 and Under-21 players, and matches live-streamed with national team selectors and professional scouts in mind.
